KATHMANDU, March 3: Amid escalating conflict in the Middle East and continued airspace closures, Nepal’s international flight schedule remains heavily disrupted. According to the office of Tribhuvan International Airport, 16 scheduled international flights were cancelled on Tuesday.
Flights operated by Jazeera Airways, Kuwait Airways, Air Arabia, flydubai, Nepal Airlines, Qatar Airways and Himalaya Airlines were among those affected.
Air services to Kuwait, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Doha have been disrupted. However, flights to destinations outside the Middle East are operating normally, the airport office said.

Authorities confirmed that the airspace of Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon and Bahrain remains closed as of Tuesday. On Monday as well, 16 international flights had been cancelled.
Meanwhile, more than 8,000 passengers travelling from various countries have been stranded in transit at Doha amid growing tensions in the region. According to the Qatari government, passengers travelling on Qatar Airways and other airlines were held at transit after airport operations were disrupted.
Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs claimed that an attempted attack by Iran targeting Hamad International Airport had been foiled.
At the same time, Iran has stated that it continues attacks in Gulf countries hosting US military bases, including Qatar.
