UDAYAPUR, Oct 25: Sixteen people were injured in a Bolero jeep accident in Katari in Udayapur on Friday.
The incident occurred at Bijuledanda in Katari Municipality–4 along the Mirchaiya–Katari–Ghurmi Siddhicharan Highway. The Bolero (Ba 7 Cha 3695), which was heading to Lekhani from Katari Bazaar carrying passengers, lost control around 3:30 PM and overturned on the left side of the road, police said.

The injured were rescued and initially taken to the Provincial Hospital in Katari. As treatment was not possible there, they were referred to other hospitals.
Dr Gaurav Sah, medical superintendent at the hospital, said, “Of the 16 admitted, one with minor injuries has been discharged, while the remaining 15 have been referred to various hospitals.” According to him, three of the injured were sent to Kathmandu, and the rest to Biratnagar and Dharan.
The injured include six-year-old Chandra Bahadur Tamang of Katari Municipality–5 and 68-year-old Krish Rai of Katari Municipality–8. Others injured are 67-year-old Chhetra Bahadur Magar of Dudhauli Municipality–14, Sindhuli; 45-year-old Arjun Tamang; 25-year-old Ram Maya Tamang; 33-year-old Mina Kumari Tamang; 30-year-old Durga Dulal; 24-year-old Manisha Dulal; and 13-year-old Latang Tamang—all from Katari Municipality–8.
Similarly, 52-year-old Dil Bahadur Tamang, 59-year-old Amrit Bahadur Tamang, 62-year-old Ratna Lal Tamang, 43-year-old Man Bahadur Shrestha, 34-year-old Dev Bahadur Rai, and 22-year-old Laxmi Tamang of Katari Municipality–14 were also injured.
Police have taken the driver, 30-year-old Sagar Rai of Lekhani, Katari Municipality–14, into custody for investigation. The Bolero remains at the scene, but traffic movement has not been obstructed, said District Police Spokesperson DSP Kedar Man Dong.
