BEIJING, China, Dec 10: State media say two bus accidents in China have killed at least 14 people and left 41 hurt or missing.

The official Xinhua News Agency says 12 people were killed and five were missing after their bus plunged into a river in Tibet. It says the driver and one passenger were the only survivors. The accident happened Tuesday but was not reported until Saturday. [break]

In the second accident, Xinhua said two tourists from Hong Kong were killed and 36 others were hurt when their bus overturned after colliding with a farm vehicle Friday night in Jilin province in northeastern China.

Serious traffic accidents are common in China, often due to overloaded vehicles or poorly trained drivers who ignore traffic laws.
