130 million for Sixth National Games

KATHMANDU, July 16: Government has allocated Rs 130 million for organizing the Sixth National Games in Dhangadi in the coming fiscal year. Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari, delivering the budget speech, said the necessary budget has also been allocated for the preparation of the 12th South Asian Games.



The budget has emphasized on institutionalizing sports from school and community level. “With a view to developing sports at local level, a minimum of Rs 10 thousand will be allocated out of the total grant allocated to Village Development Committees,” stated Adhikari in the budget speech.[break]



Likewise, budget has been earmarked for completing the ongoing construction of sports infrastructures and a Multipurpose Sports Complex. The budget also proposes providing incentives and facilities to players who win regional and international competitions in order to encourage sports.



A total sum of Rs 702.773 million has been allocated for the Ministry of Youth and Sports out of which Rs 671.973 million has been set aside for recurrent expenditure and Rs 30.800 millions as capital expenditure.
