As per the proposal, only the political parties that garner more than three percent of the total votes cast in the national election would be represented in parliament.
“Leaders from all the 13 parties unanimously termed it as an anti-democratic and exclusive provision and vowed to stop it from being incorporated in the new constitution,” CP Mainali of the CPN-ML told myrepublica.com.
Leaders of the CPN-ML, Rastriya Janamukti Party, Dalit Janajati Party, CPN (Samyukta) Churebhawar Rastriya Ekata Party, Rastriya Janamorcha, Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, Nepal Loktantrik Samajwadi Dal, Sanghiya Loktantrik Rastriya Manch, Rastriya Janashakti Party, Nepal Family Party, Samajwadi Prajatantrik Janata Dal, Rastriya Prajatantra Party were present in the meeting held at the CPN (ML)´s office in Singha Durbar.
The parties also discussed forming a "responsible caucasus" of the smaller parties to fight bullying of the big parties. This issue will be finalized in the next meeting to be held on April 20, Mainali said.
