11 children being trafficked to Kathmandu rescued in Surkhet

SURKHET, July 21: District Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Surkhet with the support of Chhinchu-based area police office, has rescued 11 children who were being trafficked to Kathmandu from Mugu district on Monday evening.

CWC recued the children, aged between 8 to 12 years over charge of trafficking.According to CWC, they took hold of children who were being taken to Kathmandu via road along the Surkhe district by Dhanman Singh Malla, central committee members of Rastriya Eakata Party.

According to Rama Bhandari, head of the district CWC office, Malla admitted that he was taking the helpless orphan children to Kathmandu to work as domestic helps upon the request of his party president Uma Shrestha.

All the children are from Dhainkot VDC of the Mugu district.

All the children have been kept at Birendranagar-based Nawajeevan Child Protection Center with the coordination of Surkhet CWC.
