Ashim Jung Karki scored a sublime free-kick to put Nepal ahead in the 15th minute of the match held at the Al Arabi stadium in Doha.
However, Nepal came under pressure later as Bibek Pratap Panta received his marching orders from the referee after being booked twice. Turkmenistan piled immense pressure on 10-man Nepal, but the Nepali team held on to its slim 1-0 lead until the break. [break]
In the second half, Turkmenistan was awarded a penalty after Nepali skipper Sulav Maskey fouled Turkmenistan"s striker in the danger area. Berenov gave no chance to Nepali goalkeeper Alan Neupane as he scored from the spot to level the scores.
Kuvusov capitalized on Nepal"s poor defending to head home the winner beating goalie Neupane in the 79th minute.
Nepal tried to stage a fightback but could not find the equalizer to the disappointment of around 8,000 Nepali supporters at the stadium.
Goalkeeper Neupane saved a free-kick in the third minute of the match and denied Turkmenistan strikers a couple of times in the second half.
Earlier, Turkmenistan"s goalkeeper blocked a powerful shot from outside the area and denied Sulav Maskey in the 12th minute.
The winner of the five-team group comprising Nepal, Turkmenistan, India, Qatar and Uzbekistan will secure berth in the finals of the competition.
The Nepali youth team will face India on Sunday, Uzbekistan on October 8 and host Qatar two days later. The winners of nine groups and the six best runners-up will join host Myanmar in the finals of the competition scheduled for October 2014.
