"The Metropolitan Police Crime Division arrested the Chinese nationals along with the cash at around 4:30," said SSP Devendra Subedi, Chief of Crime Division, Hanumandkhoka. [break]
He informed that they had hidden the money inside their body in sensitive parts and were trying to smuggle it to Khasa, a Chinese town along Nepal-China border.
Police are yet to find out the source of the illegal money. However, police after the preliminary investigation said the Chinese nationals might have earned the money in Nepal and converted it into dollars in order to take it to China.
Those arrested have been identified as Yee, Yang, Lee, Xu, Wu, Lang, Luo, Ling, Fu and Chang. Some of the Chinese nationals have business visas while others have tourist visa, according to SSP Subedi.
The crime division informed that it will forward the case to Revenue Investigation Department for further investigation.
Police have also confiscated three vehicles (Ba 7 Cha 1438, Ba 7 Cha 9178 and Ba 8 Cha 6426) used by the Chinese nationals for traveling to Khasa,Tibet.
