YCL leaders renewed their warning on the eve of the joint meeting of the party´s office bearers, PLA commanders and disgruntled YCL leaders scheduled for Monday. [break]
“If the party does not address our demands and keeps on delaying the decision on providing relief packages to YCL members, we will launch stringent protests,” said Sabitri Dura, coordinator of YCL Tamuwan State Committee.
Earlier, YCL leaders had announced protests programs but withdrew after party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal gave assurance saying their demands would be addressed.
Last Monday, Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, after a meeting with YCL leaders, had said that the party would start giving packages to YCL members.
Accordingly a meeting of the office bearers, the division commanders and YCL leaders was called for last Thursday but the meeting was postponed.
The meeting was supposed to finalize relief packages for the YCL members, who were taken out of the Maoist military to execute the party´s strategy of fomenting urban insurrection.
According to Duba, YCL leaders are currently holding discussions on their next move if the party fails to address their demands.
YCL leaders say there are around 3,500 former PLA members in the youth wing of the party.
