According to an MPRF-N leader, Yadav has called a central committee meeting of his party on Thursday to endorse the party´s decision to join UML-Maoist coalition with the party holding three ministerial berths.[break]
Party sources said Yadav is likely to lead MPRF-N as deputy prime minister and energy minister. Renu Kumari Yadav and Mohammud Istiyak Rai are the other party leaders who would likely join the Khanal-led government.
During the discussion on Monday, Khanal had agreed to give two ministerial berths to Yadav´s party if the latter would choose plum ministries. Else, Khanal had said Yadav would be given three ministries.
Khanal had also said Yadav must join the government on the condition that the seven-point agreement reached between the Maoists and the UML would be followed in letter and spirit.
The meeting was attended by Yadav, General Secretary Ram Shahaya Prasad Yadav and lawmakers Atma Ram Prasad Sah and Istiyak Rai.
Including energy ministry, MPRF-N has demanded two among the three ministries -- Ministry of Physical Planning and Works, Ministry of Local Development and Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation.
"MoPPW is MPRF-N´s first choice among the three ministries," a source told Republica, adding Yadav proposed him name to lead MPRF-N before tabling it in the CC keeping in view the possibility of a dispute.
Yadav had also asked party Co-chairman Jaya Prakash Prasad Gupta to join the government. However, Gupta said it would not be appropriate for the party to join the cabinet.
"My view is that the party must not join the cabinet as UML-Maoist coalition is against Madhes issues," Gupta told Republica. "I will table my views on Thursday´s CC meeting."
MPRF-N had abstained from voting in the prime ministerial election on February 3. Although Yadav was present at the meeting of the United Democratic Madhesi Morcha meeting held on the day of election, he had objected to the candidacy of MPRF-Democratic Chairman Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar.
