WTO Dy DG arriving Monday

KATHMANDU, Feb 14: Deputy Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Harsa V Singh, is arriving Nepal on Monday on a four-day visit. Singh is the highest ranking WTO official ever to visit Nepal.[break]



Chandra Kumar Ghimire, joint secretary at the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies (MoCS), told Republica that Singh is scheduled to deliver a speech at a high-level interaction on ´How Nepal Can Benefit from the Multi-lateral Trading System and Doha Round?´ on Wednesday.



The program is being jointly organized by the MoCS and Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI).



Singh is scheduled to call on Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari, Chief Secretary Madhav Ghimire and other high ranking officials at National Planning Commission and the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday.  



He is also attending an interaction on ´Emerging Potentiality of International Trade for South Asian Least Developed Countries´ organized by South Asia Watch on Trade Economics and Environment (SAWTEE) on Monday.
