Five persons affected by the Maoist insurgency moved the apex court urging the court to scrap some wordings in the directive which was recently issued by the government. [break]
The writ petitioners have urged SC to remove the words “political conflict”, “political movement” and “people´s war”, among others, stating that they are against the Interim Constitution and the spirit of the Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA), 2006 signed between then Maoist rebels and seven political parties.
The writ petitioners have argued that if corrections are not made in the directive, real victims will be deprived from facilities to be given by the state while fake ones will take advantage of the relief.
According to the writ petitioners, hearing on the petition is scheduled for Thursday. Chairman of Interim Election Council Khil Raj Regmi and his office, ministry of peace and reconstruction and home ministry are named as defendants in the writ petition.
