Workshop on handicraft product design concludes

KATHMANDU, Aug 5: A workshop on industrial design organized with the aim of strengthening and diversifying Nepal´s handicraft products concluded here on Monday.



Some 26 students of Kathmandu University´s Center for Art and Design and working professionals participated in the workshop to improve their handicraft product design skills, according to a press release. [break]



The workshop concluded with creative culmination of the work of students, who used traditional Nepali techniques in paper-making, silk screening and other fields to create new designs for the handicraft industry during the workshop, the release added.



Professor Conrado, during the workshop, highlighted the export potential of Nepal´s handicraft industry and demonstrated how improved design can improve the handicraft industry´s export potential.



Kathmandu University will be incorporating industrial design elements into its art curriculum and is planning industrial design workshops and certificate programs in the future, the release said.
