A squad of MPCD arrested Indira Rimal, 40, a local of Khadga Bhanjyang VDC-2 of Nuwakot district and currently residing in Baluwatar, from her residence. According to the MPCD, the squad arrested her based on the complaints filed by the victim, Ram Laxmi Twayana, of Bhaktapur-14.
Herbal entrepreneur Twayana had filed complaints against Rimal and Ganesh Kumar Pandit of Shankarapur-8 of Kathmandu about three months ago, alleging that the two had duped her by taking cash for upgrading the quality of her herbal industry.
Police said that Nirmal Karki of Chisapani of Khotang, who has been living in Kathmandu, apparently introduced Twayana to Pandit, who reportedly claimed to arrange a meeting with someone who had huge herbal business in India and that would help upgrade her industry. Unable to reject their lucrative proposal, Twayana met Rimal with the arrangement made by the duo.
In order to upgrade the standard of her industry and buy some machines for the purpose, Twayana sold off her land and provided cash of Rs 60 million to them. But in return she neither had her industry upgraded nor got the cash in return. It was only then that she realized of being duped and filed complaints at the police station.
Following her complaints, the police first arrested Pandit, who was released on bail after a few days. Ever since the case was filed, Indira was at large but she finally landed in the police net on Saturday after three months. She has been sent to the Metropolitan Police Range Office, Kathmandu for further investigations.
