The tournament will start with the pro-am event in which amateur golfers will team up with the professionals and get much needed exposure. Then the main event of the tournament will begin on Sunday over 3 days and 54 holes. [break]
Nepal Professional Golfers Association (NPGA) organizes the tournament while Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd sponsors the event.
All the professional and top amateur golfers of the country have already arrived in Pokhara and are acclimatizing to the playing conditions of the most adventurous golf course of the country. The pros along with few amateurs also had a round of golf to hone in their skills on Friday.
The course set in the backdrops of majestic Machhapuchre Mountain and rested in the ravine alongside Bijayapur River is certainly going to test the skills of all the top-notch golfers.
Defending champion and Nepal No 1 pro golfer Shivaram Shrestha will be joined by Rabi Khadka, Ramesh Adhikari, Surya Sharma, Ramesh Nagarkoti, Deepak Thapa Magar and Sanjay Lama.
In the Amateur section, Tashi Tsering, Tashi Ghale and Wanchen Dhondhup will be joined by young golfers Bikash Bogati, Ashish Pariyar, Michael Rai and Dinesh Prajapati, who have been training under the Surya Nepal NGA Youth Golf Development Program. Nepal Golf Association has also announced that ranking will be based on the events of Surya Nepal Golf tour.
The prize purse for the event has been raised this year to RS 4, 67,500 and winner will receive a check of Rs.88, 000. The runner-up will get Rs 55,000 while second runner-up will bag Rs 40, 700. Other pros in the top 20 will also receive their share of cash prizes.
