“We will take charge of the country´s leadership. In absence of Girijababu, everybody is worrying about the country´s future. But we will not shrug off this historic responsibility,” Dahal said while speaking at a function in Chitwan. [break]
“History never looks back. 2063 BS can never be 2046 BS,” said Dahal indirectly referring to former king Gyanendra´s recent statement that monarchy had not come to an end. He also warned the regressive forces not to hatch conspiracy against republicanism, federalism and secularism.
Dahal said that the Maoists, the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML have already agreed to promulgate the new constitution on May 28, 2010. “We will give a fitting response before May 28 to those who are trying to turn the political current back,” he said. Dahal said that the country is undergoing a labor pain but the pain would disappear once the child is born.
He said the three largest political parties are moving ahead as per the deal to go for republicanism, federalism and secularism. The Maoist combatants from Shaktikhor cantonment had give security to Dahal.
Meanwhile, Maoist senior vice-chairman Mohan Baidya said that his party would lead the new government soon.
