The three-day expo is being organized to display new technological advancements in pollution and wastage reduction and recycling of water and to make general public aware of the importance of water conservation.[break]
According to the organizers, the expo is a socio-techno event organized for the first time in Nepal. The exhibitors at the expo have demonstrated different ways of purifying water, rain water harvesting methods, traditional methods of digging out water, automatic water pump controller, water level indicator, euro guards and solar bulbs among others.
Besides, the visitors will also get to know about water related technologies, waste management technology and ground water management technology. The organizers have also organized side events such as water related documentary show and photo exhibition.
Inaugurating the expo, popular artiste Rajesh Hamal said everyone should be aware to conserve water resources. “We should not always depend on the government and donor agencies for water conservation,” added Hamal.
Former environment minister and chairman of the expo Ganesh Shah said the expo has been organized with an aim to provide the knowledge of importance of water, its use and reuse in the modern context. “This expo is also a platform to advocate new possible technological, social or legal initiatives of water conservation,” said Shah.
The organizers are expecting footfall of 25,000 during the three-day event. Visitors get free access to the event.
