According to a press statement released by the US Embassy in Kathmandu, Dr Ayres is expected to meet senior government officials and civic activists during her stay in the capital. [break]
She is also scheduled to visit Pokhara and meet various business and civil society leaders, followed by a discussion on youth issues with students at the American corner in Pokhara.
Dr. Ayres assumed her duties as Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asia in August 2010.
She has extensive experience working on south and central Asian issues in both government and private sector careers.
Her portfolio includes India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Maldives.
