The party´s standing committee meeting on Sunday did not finalise the names although Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal desperately needs to give full shape to his cabinet.[break]
After failing to finalize the names after a marathon meeting, party leaders mandated the prime minister to finalize the names in a consultation with other leaders.
"We couldn´t confirm the nominees because around 30 names were proposed," a member told Republica. The prime minister can induct up to five cabinet and four state ministers from UML.
The list became too long as the prime minister and other two top party leaders -- former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and KP Sharma Oli -- presented their separate lists of contenders representing their respective factions in the party.
Khanal, who was elected prime minister on February 3, is yet to give full shape to the eight-member cabinet by inducting new ministers from UML, UCPN (Maoist) and other small political parties.
