The government led by Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala had registered the bill on constitution amendment in the Parliament before this.

Likewise, the meeting decided to move ahead constituting an all-party political committee to resolve the various voices and opinions which have been voiced regarding the delineation of the federal provinces. The UML took this decision based on the discussions held among the three major parties.

The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister and party chairman KP Sharma Oli and it convened at the Prime Minister's residence at Baluwatar. It dwelt on the latest political situation in the country, the problem seen in the Tarai-Madhes and the blockade at the border, among other issues, Chief of the UML Publicity Department Yogesh Bhattarai said.
He said the meeting held serious discussions and took these decisions.

The UML Standing Committee drew the government's attention to the need of adopting alternative ways in a speedy manner for easing the problem and the difficulties facing the Nepali people in their daily lives due to the India-imposed border blockade.

The party has also urged the government to take effective diplomatic initiation to inform the neighboring friendly countries and the international community regarding the present situation.
