GAIGHAT, Sept 3: Conflict victims in Udaypur district have complained of having faced discriminations from the state in course of the distribution of relief assistance.

Most of the conflict-hit people in the district have not received relief distributed by the state. Similarly, those, who received the assistance, have also not got the whole amount.[break]

They have complained of political discrimination during the distribution. Only the people who are close to political leaders and elite groups have enjoyed the state facility, said Meghraj Adhikari of Panchawati-1.

Real conflict-hit in the district have been still waiting for receiving the relief," he said.

"I have not got any relief from the state so far despite much effort," said one Amar Pariyar of Lalpata who had suffered tortures from both the state and the Maoist side during the conflict. "I have no one in the political level to advocate for the relief assistance," he shared his bitter experience.

Similarly, Nabina Rai of Beltar-1 has also been deprived of the facility. But she has not given up hope for receiving it.

Conflict victims here have requested the state, local administration and bodies concerned to pay special heed towards effective and fair distribution of relief.
