UCPN (Maoist) to take initiative for consensus

KATHMANDU, Dec. 15: The Unified CPN (Maoist) has decided to make optimum efforts for formation of national consensus government within the new deadline extended by the President.



A meeting of the party office-bearers held at Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal´s residence, Lazimpat, on Saturday, has drawn conclusion to take initiative to the possible extent in a bid to build consensus within the timeline set by the President, said party Secretary Posta Bahadur Bogati.



The party has come up with the decision to make special efforts for building consensus on behalf of the party at a time when consultations among parties of late have failed to yield anything in concrete, he added.



First priority will be to form a national consensus government under the leadership of incumbent Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai, and even if it fails, another leader from the party will be presented as a new candidate, he said.



In this line, the party will hold consultations with ruling partners, said the UCPN (Maoist) source.



On the occasion, Chairperson Dahal briefed his discussion with Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala this morning and Vice-chairperson and Prime Minister Dr Bhatatrai informed party leaders about the consultations being held with various political parties´ leaders of late.
