UCPN (M), RPP-N officially support Oli for next PM

KATHMANDU, Oct 10: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has filed his candidacy for the post of next prime minister with the support from UCPN (Maoist) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N) at the parliament secretariat on Saturday.

UCPN (Maoist) and RPP-N have officially decided to support UML leader Oli for the post of prime minister on Saturday.


According to RPP-N spokesperson Mohan Shrestha, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman is the proposer while RPP-N Chairman Kamal Thapa is the seconder.
Currently CPN-UML has 183 seats, UCPN (Maoist) 83 seats and RPP-N 25 seats in the legislature-parliament.

As many as 14 fringe parties including CP Mainali-led CPN (ML) had promised their support for Oli at his residence in Balkot yesterday.

Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is also likely to support Oli. "We want that the three major parties should get united to form a consensus government at this time of political imbroglio," RPP leader Parshu Ram Khapung told Republica.

Khapung said RPP will come up with its official decision on this issue tomorrow after holing a party meeting in case there is no possibility of the consensus government. RPP has 12 seats.

The candidates will submit their candidacies from 11 am until 4 pm today. The parliament secretariat will publish the list of candidates after 4 pm.

The election for the prime minister will be held at 11 am Sunday.
