KATHMANDU, March 19: The Department of Transport Management (DoTM) has recommended a fare adjustment for public transport to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, following recent increases in fuel prices.
Public transport fare goes up as NOC hikes diesel price
Director Shreekant Yadav told Republica that the move is a response to rising petroleum costs, though he did not disclose the exact fare hike. “This decision has been sent to the ministry for approval,” Yadav said. “The ministry may choose not to implement our suggestion.”
Transport operators have long demanded a fare increase after the Nepal Oil Corporation raised petrol by Rs 15 per liter and diesel/kerosene by Rs 10 per liter starting last Monday. The proposed adjustment aims to help operators manage the impact of soaring fuel costs.
