Tourism journalists meet secretary

KATHMANDU, Aug 24: A delegation from the Tourism Journalists Association of Nepal met with Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Yagya Prasad Gautam and discussed the issues relating to media support to promote the tourism sector on Friday.



During the meeting, Secretary Gautam expressed concern over shutdowns and strikes being enforced following the issues of construction of the Pokhara regional airport by Pokhara folks and said such activities might affect the touristic image of Pokhara in the international arena. [break]



He urged journalists to disseminate facts about the government endeavors for the construction of the airport.



Director General at the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) Triratna Manandhar said the daylong closure of the Pokhara Airport caused a loss of around Rs. 20 million to the government. "Efforts are being made by the Authority and the Ministry to hold talks with the agitating side," he said.
