MAHENDRANAGAR, May 6: The ongoing agitation of the locals in the far western region for an undivided far west has completely thrown normal life out of gear for the 10th consecutive day. However, instead of pacifying them, the big 3 leaders seem to have rather enraged the agitators.

The agitators have warned to intensify their protests even as the top leaders of Nepali Congress and CPN-UML have urged local party leaders to call off the banda. The local leaders have accused their party leadership of not addressing their demands. [break]

The agitators chanted slogans demanding ´undivided far western region´ and burnt effigies of 23 lawmakers from the region, including that of Minister for Culture Gopal Kiranti, for going against their demand.

Nepal Student Union, All Nepal National Free Student Union (ANNFSU), Tarun Dal, Jagaran Manch and All Nepal Women Association, among others, have been carrying out the agitation.

"Some are spreading false news that we have called off the banda," said Pushpakraj Joshi, coordinator of Jagaran Manch. "The top leaders do not seem to be serious about ending the agitation, otherwise, they would not issue such statements. We want them to speak clearly on the matter," Joshi said.
