Present in the function were Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, Speaker Subas Nembang, chairman of the Unified CPN (Maoist) Pushpa Kamal; Dahal, president of the CPN (UML) Jhalanath Khanal, Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar, chairman of the Rastriya Janashakti Party Surya Bahadur Thapa, chairman of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, Narayanman Bijukchhe and leaders of different political parties represented in the Constituent Assembly.
President of the Nepali Congress Koirala, senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, acting president Sushil Koirala, vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel among the central office-bearers of the party, party members and office-holders of the sister organizations of the party welcomed the guests at the function.
Earlier, the Nepali Congress used to organize this tea reception and greetings exchange function at its central office at BP Nagar, Sanepa, Lalitpur. This year the function was held at Bhrikuti Mandap due to the construction works going on at the party office.
Ministers, chiefs of the foreign diplomatic missions, high-ranking government officials, businessmen, intellectuals, representatives of the civil society and journalists were present in large numbers on the occasion.
The popular leader and founder of the Nepali Congress, the late B.P. Koirala had started the tradition of hosting the tea reception and greetings exchange function on the occasion of Bijaya Dashami after he returned to the country in 2033 BS from exile in India by adopting the policy of national unity and conciliation.
