The tool kits prepared on the coordination of the UNISDOR, SAARC and UN Habitat has been categorized in different four groups.[break]
They include the school buildings that have been already constructed, maintenance to be made on the schools, hospitals and residential buildings reaching in dilapidated conditions, and other measures to be adopted as the precaution.
Speaking at the programme, Secretary at the Ministry of Urban Development, Kishor Thapa, said it was necessary to create awareness on natural disaster management and making the school and hospital building a seismically resistant ones.
UN Habitat Country Director Padma Sundar Joshi said the toolkits were prepared by inspecting the condition of various schools in Kathmandu, Lalitpur in Nepal and some places in Assam, and Himachal state in India so that they could easily measure the risk of the buildings.
Director of the Urban Development and Building Construction, Mahendra Subba, said the tools kids would turn to be beneficial to the country like Nepal that has the lack of technical human resources.
A total of 28,000 community school buildings, around 82,000 other public buildings and majority of the health service centers have been constructed without thinking the risk of earthquake and other disasters in Nepal.
