SP Chairman and Minister for Health Rajendra Mahato welcomed Gupta to his party amid a program organized at Bramhapuri at Gupta’s residence here in the district.[break]
Gupta, who was active in Nepali Congress for a long time, earlier had joined TDMP after the Madhes movement during 2008.
But he left the mother party to join the breakaway TMDP-N following the party split. He was TMDP-N’s spokesperson before quitting the party.
Explaining his move to quit party, leader Gupta said that he took the decision as the party was ‘mired in nepotism and caste issues.”
Speaking at the program, SP Chief Mahato stressed on the need of formation of a national consensus government led by an independent person to bail the country out of the ongoing political stalemate.
On the occasion, he was also of the opinion that the recent move of President Dr Ram Baran Yadav to call on the political parties to nominate a prime ministerial candidate for consensus government within a week, would put pressure on the parties to forge consensus, at the earliest.
