The opposition parties called the banda to protest the police interference in course of prohibiting Chief District Officer of Khotang, from entering his office as per their peaceful demonstration.[break]
Hotels and others shops in the district headquarters, Diktel, remained closed since early morning today due to the banda.
Similarly, the educational institutions in the district headquarters and surrounding areas also remained closed. No vehicles were seen plying in the district due to the opposition parties´ strike.
The leaders and cadres of the parties have been organizing protest rallies.
Around a dozen local leaders and cadres of the opposition parties and some police personnel were injured in a clash between the police and the agitators after the police interfered in the gathering of demonstrators at the District Administration Office, Khotang.
