On Thursday, the NA men on Thursday seized a few packets of dry meat of deer from a local bus. Upon enquiry, the bus driver told officers that he was “only delivering” the packets. On Friday, a sub-inspector of the Armed Police Force, Anil Thapa, came to claim the packets saying that the packets were for his boos. The NA personnel held him and handed him over to the Warden office, which is the administrative body of the Park.
Similarly, on Saturday, two other men were caught with dry meat at the NA check-post inside the park premises. Of the four men traveling in the car, with unidentified number plate, two were released as they were found to be only taking a lift. But the other two -- Madan Tamang and Mahendra Tamang -- have been arrested. One of the two is also the owner of the vehicle.
“The two culprits were trying to transport the dry-meat out of the conservation area and were caught at our check-point,” said NA spokesperson Ramindra Chhetri, adding, “The Warden Office is the body authorized to investigate into the incident.”
