Chief of Lahan Police Office, Shyam Subba said they nabbed the three acting on a tip-off. They were carrying 250 kg of marijuana packed in ten sacks on a vehicle (NA 1 Kha 4003) bound for Lahan from Makawanpur. The three men were caught near Dhangadhi, seven km west of Lahan, along the East-West East highway.

Subba said the three would likely face two to 10 years in prison and a fine of Rs 100,000 at the maximum. The arrested men have refused to provide information about other drug dealers in the area, the police added.
Chhetri, one of the arrested, said that they were transporting marijuana for a businessman in Lahan. They had bought marijuana in Bharata, Makawanpur for Rs 130,000, which they were planning to sell for Rs 700 per kg.
Marijuana is easily available for Rs 300 per kg in Makawanpur. Smugglers process it and sell in Indian markets for a price ranging from IRs 1,000 to 3,000 depending on the quality.
