The early morning fire at the Dragon Spa, located on the fourth floor of the Manang Plaza was almost completely destroyed by the fire. [break]
Two caretakers sleeping on the same floor escaped unharmed.
The firefighting team that arrived forty minutes after the fire reportedly started failed to gain access inside the flaming spa at first.
The team’s Ladder truck at the location too was not much help due to the narrowness of the lane.
Firefighters were forced to improvise and use a rope instead to haul the fire hose atop the adjacent rooftop and spray water from there.
A unit from the Nepal Army was also present at the site lending help actively.
Less than a fortnight ago a gym in the same vicinity was totally destroyed by fire not more than 100 yards away.
In both cases, electric short circuit was suspected to be the cause of fire.
