Dahal blamed India for the continuous deadlock over the prime ministerial election, though he refrained from directly pronouncing that country´s name.[break]
“Immediately after he returned from China visit, BP Koirala was sacked in a military coup by forces that had an alliance with Mahendra. I also share Koirala´s fate. I have the premonition that this would happen to me also,” said Dahal while speaking at a function in Sunsari.
He argued that as the first prime minister of a republican Nepal he embarked on a China visit without bowing down to others and that was the reason why he was removed from the executive head of state in a conspiratorial manner.
Dahal said that he felt during Saturday´s three-party talks that the NC and UML leaders were not in a mood to form a new government and later he felt that the whole negotiation has already fallen prey to conspiracy.
He claimed that other parties are planning to stay home during the prime ministerial election or render their votes invalid, which would lead to continuous deadlock over the prime ministerial election.
Dahal claimed that the three-party meeting on Monday would also not lead to any solution.
“Maoists are ready to maintain maximum flexibility in favor of the people. But the party is also ready for tit for tat,” he said.
Prime Minister Nepal obstacle to consensus
In his meeting with party cadres, Dahal accused Prime Minister Madhav Nepal of trying to prolong the tenure of his caretaker government by playing negative role in the peace process.
“We have failed every time we come close to consensus on government formation. We think Nepal is playing role to spoil the plan,” he said.
He also argued that the UML establishment faction is ready to back a Maoist-led government, but Nepal has come in the way.
“All other leaders are ready to accept a Maoist-led government, but Nepal is not. He wants to be in power at any cost,” he said.
