Swiss govt to continue assistance

KATHMANDU, Aug 11: On the occasion of 50 years of Nepal-Switzerland cooperation, the government of Switzerland has agreed to ´renew and consolidate´ the relations between Nepal and Switzerland and to continue to assist in Nepal´s development sector and human security, a press release issued by the Ministry of Finance Tuesday said.



To this effect, Rameshore Prasad Khanal, the finance secretary, and Thomas Gass, ambassador of Switzerland to Nepal, signed a joint declaration on Tuesday.



The cooperation, the statement added, will be guided by the Swiss Cooperation Strategy for the period between 2009-12. The annual budget for which will be Rs 1.75 billion to support inclusive democratic state-building and promote human security and socio-economic development in Nepal with special focus on peace process, human rights and livelihoods.
