A group of about 40 students, led by Kavre president of NSU Madhav Dhakal, stormed DEO Shakya´s office and smeared black soot on his face.
“He refused when we asked him to conduct an alternative exam for NSU students who could not attend the exams as they participated in Koirala´s funeral procession,” Dhakal said. “So we had to resort to smearing black soot.”
DEO Shakya had allegedly conducted grade eight exams the day after Koirala passed away. But Shakya maintained that he had no role in conducting exams. “Question papers and answer copies had already been distributed,” he said, adding, “It was up to schools whether to postpone the exams.”
