KATHMANDU, Dec 3: Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said on Saturday that the party would chart out a strategy to capture state power if the ongoing peace and constitution process falls prey to conspiracy.

The Maoist Chairman expressed such views while speaking at a function at party head office at Paris Danda, Kathmandu. [break]

"The party would unleash a mass movement to seize state power if the peace and constitution drafting process falls prey to conspiracy of the reactionaries," he said.

Dahal added that if the peace and constitution drafting process reaches a logical conclusion, the party would be able to seize the state power by the first general elections. The Maoist chairman did not elaborate whether he meant the state capture through ballots or by force.

During the function, Dahal welcomed the new entrants to the party. Those joining the party are Dilip Sah who leads a faction of the CPN (Maoist) led by Matrika Yadav, Bhola Nath Basyal who heads a faction of the United Democratic Front and Gunakhar Bhusal, a leader of a faction of Revolutionary Communist Party.

The Maoist chairman stated that the party has lately been able to expand its base in the Tarai region also and that would turn the party´s strategy into a success.

Dahal also argued that the ongoing differences over the party´s tactical line would not lead to a vertical split of the party.
