Sri Lanka Prez, PM condole Kasyap's demise

KATHMANDU, March 2: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Prime Minister DM Jayaratne expressed grief over the sudden demise of Upa Sanga Nayaka, Kumar Kasyap.



In a condolence message, President Rajapaksa while recalling the titles of Viswokeerti Srishasan Shivana and Bidhyalankar Padmabhushan being conferred on Kashyap by Sri Lanka Amarpur Mahanikaya and Bidhyalankar Pirivena has said that his demise has caused loss to both Sri Lanka and Nepal and also to the international Buddhist community. In a separate condolence message sent by the Sri Lankan Prime Minister, it is stated that most venerable Kumar Kashyap had devoted his time and energy for the propagation of Theravada Buddhism in Nepal and other countries and hailed his contribution to consolidate religious and cultural relations between Sri Lanka and Nepal.



Likewise, the Thai Association has also expressed grief on the demise of Kashyap.
