The championship will be held from December 3-13 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. [break]
The selected players include 18 members of 10th South Asian Games (SAG) runners up team which excludes custodian Sapana Lama and defender Manamaya Magar. Lama was excluded from the team as she did not participate in the training while Magar had ligament surgery about a month earlier.
The other players from SAG squad are Jamuna Gurung, Bhawati Thapa, Deepa Chhetri, Tulasa Singh, Usha Bhandari, Sajana Rana, Niru Thapa, Laxmi Paudel, Nisha Dewan, Mira Maharjan, Anu Lama, Pramila Rai, Chandra Bhandari, Deepa Adhikari, Binita Shrestha, Ranjana Suruchi, Asmita Khawas and Namita Dali.
The other players selected in the preliminary phase are Rupa Magar, Shova Kuswar, Deepa Rai, Lila Lamgade, Chandra Devi Dahal, Tej Gurung, Sashi Basnet, Manisha Chaudhary, Yashoda Thokar, Sapansila Magar, Lila Pandey and Goma Thapa. ANFA has declared Dhruba KC and Kumar Katuwal as the chief and assistant coach of the squad on Wednesday.
KC was the coach of the silver winning squad in SAG.
NSTA to award Asiad medalists
Nepal Soft Tennis Association (NSTA) announced cash prize for if the players win medal in the upcoming 16th Asian Games. NSTA President Binay Bikram Shah announced the prize on Wednesday amidst a function.
"If anyone wins gold in Guangzhou he will receive Rs 300,000 while silver and bronze medalist will get Rs 200,000 and Rs 100,000 respectively," declared Shah. Interpid Nepal Pvt. Ltd handed over sports gear to the soft tennis players representing Nepal in Asiad.
The total worth of kits is Rs 100,000. The soft tennis squad includes Ashok Singh, Sanjay Nepal, Monaj Subba, Dushyant Thapa and Shoan Dhaubadel.
