Aryal had won gold in the individual event of rings and peg of equestrian during the games at Hambantota, Sri Lanka from October 8-14. Aryal of Nepal Army had also won a bronze in individual event and two silver medals in team event. [break]
The gold medal won by Aryal was Nepal´s biggest achievement in the beach games. Nepal won one gold, two silver and five bronze medals during the games.
NSC Member Secretary Lama is also the president of Nepal Equestrian Association formed a couple of week earlier after reshuffling the old committee.
Financial support for Basnet´s family
KATHMANDU: Family of late Rajendra Kumar Basnet, the senior officer of National Sports Council (NSC) was given financial support by the permanent employees of National Sports Council on Monday. Basnet´s wife Kalpana was handed over Rs 192,300 by National Sports Council Employee Association President Narayan Dev Rana. Basnet died in a road accident at the New Jersey, USA on February 14. Late Basnet, who was 44, has four children. NSC had already decided to recommend Ministry of Youth and Sports to provide support of Rs 300,000 to Basnet family for education of children. Basnet started service at the NSC in 2053 BS.
Thames cricket from Tuesday
KATHMANDU: Thames International College, Battisputali, is organizing Thames Inter-college Knockout Cricket Tournament-2012 from Tuesday at Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya ground in Bhaktapur.
Siddhartha Manu Marasini, coordinator of the tournament informed the press that 14 BBA Colleges affiliated to Tribhuvan University would compete under T20 format.
"Only BBA students can participate in the tournament as we are looking for fair competition among colleges which could play a vital role in increasing brotherhood among them," Marisin said.
According to Sanjiv Dahal of Thames, the officials of Cricket Association of Nepal will look after the technical aspect of the tournament.
The tournament was earlier known as BBA Cup but was renamed in the sixth edition. As per the tradition of conducting the tournament by the defending champion, Thames is hosting the current edition.
Two matches will be held each days and man-of-the-match of each game will be given attractive prizes. Similarly, man of the series, best batsman and best bowler will also be awarded.
Thames will take on IMS and KIST will lock horn against KCMIT in the inaugural match.
