APF are in Pune to participate in the CK Nayadu Tournament.
Friends thrash Boys Sports Club
SIMARA: Friends Club thrashed Boys Sports Club 4-1 on Wednesday during the Second Simara Gold Cup being held in Simara. Friends Club took an early lead as Tanka Lama scored the first goal in the ninth minute. Butwal based Boys´ Sports club responded with an equalizer in the 18th minute but couldn´t hold on long as Friends added two goals within as many minutes just before half time. Santosh Lama and Suwarna Limbu scored for Friends in the 37th and 39th minutes respectively. Prakash Budhathoki completed the rout with another goal in the 61st minute. Tanka Lama was adjudged the man-of-the-match. Thursday´s quarterfinal will be held between ANFA Academy and APF.
Rautahat thrash Morang
JANAKPUR: Rauthat XI advanced into the final of the Janaki Gold Cup Women´s Football Tournament with a 6-0 rout of Morang XI on Wednesday. Anu Lama, Sanju KC and Yasodha Lama scored a brace each to register a comfortable victory in the match held at the Janakpur Cigarette Factory. Anu Lama scored the first goal in the second minute to give an early lead to Rautahat. Sanju KC doubled the lead in the 34th minute and added another four minutes later. Yasodha Lama scored the next two goals in the 40th and 44th minute as the teams went into the break with 5-0. Anu Lama completed the rout with the sixth goal in the 62nd minute. Rautahat will face the winner of Thursday´s semifinal between WMMC and Chitwan XI. The final will be held on Friday.
Sambotta, Nerik in semis
KATHMANDU: The senior boys´ team of Sambotta set up a semifinal clash with the hosts Innovative ´A´ after defeating Gyan Niketan 53-23 in the First Innovative Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Wednesday. In another match, Nerik saw off Innovative ´A´ 34-17 at the hosts´ court at Shankhamul for a semifinal showdown with Gyanodaya. In the junior boys´ category, Wilson, Babylon and New Shrine made it to the last four. Meanwhile, Innovative beat Nerik 25-20 in the girls´ round robin match.
NASA advance
KATHMANDU: NASA advanced into the semifinals of the 12th Don Bosco Cup Inter-college Basketball Tournament in the girls´ category on Wednesday. NASA registered an easy 38-9 win over Lincoln in the quarterfinal match held at the court of Don Bosco in New Baneshwar. Likewise, VS Niketan, Pyramid and NASA won their respective matches in the boys´ category.
Newton, Angel´s Heart in final
KATHMANDU: Defending champions Newton and Angel´s Heart entered the final of the Sixth SEB Inter-school Volleyball Tournament in the boys´ category on Wednesday. Newton defeated Deep Jyoti 25-14, 25-19, 25-15 while Angel´s Heart struggled past Apollo 26-24, 25-19, 13-25, 16-25, 15-11 to advance into the final. In the girls´ category, Bijeshwari settled for the third place. The finals will be held on Thursday at the court of the hosts Samakhushi English Boarding School.
Greenland win
KATHMANDU: The junior boys´ team of the hosts Greenland registered a hard-fought 11-10 win over New Castle in the Fifth Kwiks Greenland Inter-school Basketball Tournament at their home court on Wednesday. Valley Public, Golden Peak, Clinton and Ganesh School also won their respective matches. In the senior boys´ category, Forward Academy saw off Arunodaya 37-32.
