The Special Court bench led by Chairman Gauri Bahadur Karki and shared by members Om Prakash Mishra and Kedar Prasad Chalise took decision to this effect.[break]
“Documents show that Hamal, in the capacity of board member of Police Welfare Fund, attended a board meeting held in June 4 and 25, 2008 but did not sign the decision paper after the meeting,” reads the court order, adding, “The court will come up with the final decision later and has ordered him to appear before the court on August 16.”
Meanwhile, the court sent ex-DIG Deepak Kumar Shrestha and suspended SP Sanajaya Singh Basnet to Dillibazaar jail after they failed to deposit bail amount. The court has sought Rs 7.5 from Shrestha and four million rupees from Basnet.
Meanwhile, Shambhu Bharati, a local agent of the London based Assured Risks Pvt Ltd that supplied the Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs), appeared before the court on Tuesday to defend graft charges against him.
The court recorded Bharati´s statement but hearings could not take place due to lack of time. The court then sent Bharati to judicial custody.
The court also sent ex-DIG Niraj Pun and SSP Rabi Pratap Rana to judicial custody after hearings could not take place due to lack of time.
