Many people involved in marketing many not know it but the job of business marketing is to create value of the company and build strong relations with current and potential customers with sales techniques, business communication and business development.
Marketing is one of the most integral parts of business because it helps a company build strong customer relations and create value of the businesses that they work for, and in the long run, for themselves personally as well.
Marketing is a difficult position to fill and you will require lots of training and a lot of experience. Marketing is taught in Bachelor’s of Business Administration but it is also possible to major in marketing. Many business degrees offer specializations in marketing and that is the primary step to a career in marketing.
“Anyone interested in marketing should have very good communication skills,” says Sunaina Saraf, the owner of Urban Design.
Sunaina had worked in sales and marketing at various firms, prominently as the Director of Sales and Marketing at Himal Media.
“People in marketing should have very good people skills, and an introvert may have a very difficult time making it in marketing. Also, if you are in marketing, you need to love your product and have that urge to sell it because in marketing, it all boils down to selling your company,” she adds.
Business degrees are very well known in Nepal and are offered all across the Valley and all the major universities like Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu University, Pokhara University, and Purbanchal University.
Apart from the big universities, there are smaller institutions like Ace College of Management, Apex College and Nepal Commerce Campus, affiliated to these universities that offer degrees in business with marketing specializations.
