KATHMANDU, April 1: Leaders of four fringe political parties, whom Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal met on Thursday, suggested the PM not to accept bulk entry of Maoist combatants into the security agencies.

Leaders of CPN (ML), Rastriya Jana Morcha (RJM), CPN (United) and Nepal Workers´ and Peasants´ Party (NWPP) advised the prime minister to agree only on entry into the security agencies on the basis of individual combatants´ qualifications. [break]

"If we agree on Maoists´ bulk entry into the national security agencies, it will set a precedent. After that even other over-100 armed outfits which are operating in the Tarai region will also lay similar claims in the future. That will be a serious problem for future government no matter who will lead it," Sunil Prajapati of NWPP quoted the leaders as telling to the prime minister.

Chandra Dev Joshi of CPN (United) also echoed the same view. "This is the spirit of the past agreements and we should follow it," Joshi said.

In the meeting the leaders also discussed on ways to meet the May 28 deadline to promulgate new constitution and other aspects of the peace process.
