Slim chances of timely nat'l games

KAILALI, Feb 2: There is slim chance to hold the Sixth National Sports Games in the stipulated time when necessary infrastructure for the mega event stated to take place in far-Western region was not prepared caused by the budget deficit.



Though development of physical infrastructure along with cash Rs. 110 million is said to be required for the tournament, most probably the pre-set date for the event will defer when infrastructures are not prepared owing to the budget lack.[break]



Till this date, the construction of wall and Parapet around the ground in Dhangadhi-based stadium has not been completed. The construction of parapet has yet to start though the wall construction is partially completed.



Local political parties and all other sides have started raising voice that the national event should not be deferred or adjourned in any pretexts.



President of Nepali Congress, Kailali, Nar Narayan Shah Manu said the spot of the national tournament announced to hold in the far-western region should not be shifted while the date is the subject of consideration.



They will launch stern agitation if any efforts made to hold the tournament in other places in any pretexts and reasons as was in fourth national sports event, he warned.



Similarly, Unified CPN (Maoist), Kailali In-charge, Govinda Timilsina also warned to come with string stir if the State that has been pushing the far-western region to backward in every spheres will shift the place for national event in any pretexts.



Joint Secretary of CPN-UML, Kailali, Jeevan Kumar Bam said that they will have no alternative to go for string protest if the event pre-scheduled to take place here is shifted to other place.



Former football national player and Football Trainer of Far-western Region, Lal Bahadur Khadka stressed that the event should take place in the region at any cost.



It is said that the event to take place during the year of Nepal Tourism will provide with an opportunity to explore various religious and tourism sites of far-western region.
