Sit-in of health workers end

KATHMANDU, Nov 23: The Department of Health Services has withdrawn the decision made on the transfer of the employees of the technical class.



The Department had transferred the employees of the technical class on November 12.The Department withdrew the decision for the time being after the Ministry of Health and Population directed the Department to withdraw the decision. [break]



Five different employees´ organizations had been organizing sit-in from the same day by padlocking the Department to protest the transfer made unilaterally by the Department.



According to Chairman of the Nepal Health Workers´ Union, Bhawani Ghimire, all the agitation programmes were withdrawn from today after today´s decision of the Department.



A meeting was held between Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Praveen Mishra, and representatives of the concerned employees´ organizations on Thursday.



Mishra said they directed the Department to withdraw the decision of transfer not to affect the health services.



Employees associated with All Nepal Progressive Health Workers´ Association, Nepal Health Workers´ Association, Nepal Health Workers´ Union, and Nepal Health Technicians´ Association were on agitation.
