Shah sets new nat"l record

KATHMANDU , Aug 27: Swimmer Sofia Shah set a new national record in women"s 100m freestyle on Tuesday during the Fourth FINA Junior World Championship being held in Dubai. Shah clocked 1 minute 7.23 seconds on Tuesday to surpass the previous national record of 1 minute 9.82 seconds set by Shreya Dhital during the 18th Open Swimming Championship held in Kathmandu earlier this year. However, Shah finished 71st among the participating 80 swimmers in the event. It was the third national record set by Shah, who already holds national records in 50m and 200m freestyle. She had set the national records during the 15th FINA World Swimming Championship held in Barcelona two months ago. Shah is yet to compete in 50m freestyle in the ongoing Junior World Championship.
