CHITWAN, Aug 11: State Minister for Home Mohammad R Ansari said on Tuesday that the government introduced the Special Security Plan to safeguard people´s rights.

Addressing a press meet organized by Press Chautari in Chitwan, Ansari explained that the security proposal was not aimed at suppressing any party or group. Stating that the common people had to bear the brunt of frequent bandas and strikes, Ansari urged all to opt for peaceful solutions. Minister Ansari also claimed that the law and order situation across the country had improved over the past few months.

Ansari further said that the government would go to any extent to maintain peace and security as it was a must for the successful completion of the constitution writing process.

He warned that though the present government was all for protecting the rights of ethnic minorities, the state would not spare those who were trying to divide the country on the basis of caste and ethnicity.

Ansari had earlier directed the Chitwan local administrators and security officers to keep an effective security mechanism in place in the district. The Madhesi People´s Rights Forum Chairman Upendra Yadav has called the security plan a conspiracy against the Madhesi people, which has been introduced to suppress the Tarai movement.
