KATHMANDU, Jan 13: A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday against Prime Minister Baburam Bhattrai and Attorney General (AG) Mukti Pradhan for instructing prosecutors in the Dailekh district to halt the proceedings of  journalist Dekendra Thapa murder case.

The writ petition filed by Democratic Lawyers Association also sought an interim order on the case demanding to nullify the AG Pradhan’s written order to halt the proceedings of the murder case.[break]

The writ petitioner has also claimed that the directive from the attorney general to stop the proceedings on the case was against the spirit of Interim Constitution 2007.

Earlier on Friday, AG Pradhan had written to the Dailekh police office and the district attorney´s office, instructing them to halt the proceedings of the case, arguing that doing so would be against the Comprehensive Peace Agreement of 2006.
