Saptari reels under BMF, INJSC banda, UML party office set on fire

RAJBIRAJ, My 22: A banda called jointly by the Broader Madhesi Front (BMF), Tharuhat Struggle Committee (TSC) and Indigenous Nationalities Joint Struggle Committee (INJSC) has thrown the normal life of people out of gear on Tuesday in Rajbiraj.



All the government offices, academic institutions, marketplaces and industries have remained closed due to the strike. The banda enforcers have been rallying on the road enforcing banda and padlocking the government offices. [break]



Hundreds of passengers have been stranded on the road due to transportation services coming to a grinding halt due to banda.



The irate strikers have been threatening the press vehicles carrying newspapers.



UML party office set on fire



An unidentified group has set the office of CPN-UML, Saptari on fire. The fire has caused minor damage to the building.



According to Ganesh Bahadur Thapa, district police chief, Saptari, the police are searching for the arsonists. Following the incident security have been provided to the various party offices.



Meanwhile, the local Madhesi leaders and leaders of fringe parties have taken to street protesting the 11-state model for restructuring floated by the major political parties.
